FAQ / Contact

Montreal Linkup is a unique social group whose fundamental basis is courtesy, consideration and accountability.

We take RSVPs to events very seriously, because we want everyone in the group to have confidence in each other, and to be able to plan events based on this confidence.

After all, don't you want people to show up if they say they'll show up, and don't you prefer people you can truly count on?

Want to host an event? Please read the guidelines for hosting an event as well as the Linkup Good Hosting Guide.

APPLYING FOR MEMBERSHIP IN MONTREAL LINKUP
Montreal Linkup is a special, selective membership organization, whose strength is in the quality of its members.

Please submit an application only if you are serious about meeting new people, and making new personal and professional connections.

We don't accept just anyone into Montreal Linkup. The emphasis here is on quality, not quantity. Please understand immediately that if you submit an application, your application may or may not be accepted. This is a matter of selection, not rejection.

If you are truly serious about expanding your personal and professional contacts, and increasing social value for all of us, please take the time to create a truly excellent profile. It is your profile that first presents you to the world on Montreal Linkup. It is your profile that first determines whether someone here would be interested in meeting you.

CREATING A HIGH QUALITY PROFILE
1. Please make sure your profession is absolutely clear. If you write only "consultant" or "self-employed" or "freelance," you've done the reader a disservice. "Consultant in what? Self-employed in what? Freelance in what?" If you're currently unemployed or changing careers, be specific: What was your most recent job? What's your next move?

2. Please make sure the interests you list are as distinct as possible. There's a big difference between just listing "music," and mentioning Beethoven instead of Miles Davis, and a big difference between listing "tv" and mentioning The West Wing, not The Apprentice. Be specific. Your readers will appreciate it.

3. Next, please simply list your interests. Don't tell us your life story. Just let others know what you're interested in, and like to do. You'll have an opportunity to let people know exactly what you're looking for later.

4. Check your spelling and punctuation, and then check it again. Searches on the profiles rely on correct spelling, so if you misspell "skiing" or "karaoke," for instance, you may miss out on a lot of fun. Please make your profile as close to perfect as you can. The other members will appreciate it, and you'll get better results, too.

Examples of Bad Profiles
Profiles such as these are sloppy, boring and show no respect for the reader:

1. Terrible profile - immediately rejected
Big John - Los Angeles | email
